With its inspiration drawn from the snake, Snakey's long body allows it to curl up and slither through various terrains, ensuring a thorough cleaning wherever it goes. The docking system, designed to resemble a tree, provides a resting and recharging spot for Snakey after completing its cleaning tasks. The team at Designershive Meiban International was also influenced by the advancements in robotics, as seen in graduate works showcased in online videos.
What sets Snakey apart from other cleaning robots is its ability to climb stairs and maneuver into corners, reaching areas that traditional vacuum cleaners cannot. Its snake-like motion allows it to weave seamlessly around your home, quietly and efficiently removing dust and dirt. Once Snakey completes its cleaning cycle, it returns to its docking system to discharge the dust and recharge itself.
The technology behind Snakey is a sensorial vacuum cleaner that can sense its surroundings and move autonomously. It can even dispense an aroma anti-bacterial mist of your choice, leaving your home not only clean but also smelling fresh. The compact design of Snakey, measuring 410mm (x) by 410mm (y) by 553mm (height), ensures it can navigate through tight spaces with ease.
Snakey's operation is simple. After placing it in a central location in your home, you initialize the product, allowing Snakey to memorize the space and sense obstacles. It then starts its cleaning cycle, slithering like a snake and utilizing its modular design to clean efficiently. Snakey's ability to climb stairs and clean in a curled-up form sets it apart from other automatic vacuum cleaners. The included remote control unit allows you to have full control over Snakey's movements.
The development of Snakey took four weeks from conceptualization to execution, with the entire process taking place at Designershive Meiban International's studio in Singapore. Extensive research was conducted to understand the needs of homes and the different terrains found within them. The team interviewed users and conducted observational research to ensure Snakey met the demands of consumers.
Designing Snakey presented several challenges, including integrating robotic technology, multi-sensors, and mechanical movements with effective vacuum performance, all while maintaining an appealing design suitable for mass commercialization. However, the team at Designershive Meiban International successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a product that combines style, technology, and user-friendliness.
Snakey's innovative design and functionality have garnered recognition in the industry. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2015, a prestigious accolade that celebrates well-designed, practical, and innovative creations. This award recognizes Snakey's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while providing fulfillment and positive feelings to users.
Snakey is not just a cleaning robot; it is a cleaning pet that silently and efficiently takes care of your floor cleaning needs. With Snakey, the future of cleanliness has arrived.
